Materials Testing

WRc-NSF has a large, purpose built, materials laboratory which carries out a wide range of hygienic and material suitability tests. The laboratory is UKAS Accredited to ISO 17025 for the vast majority of its work.

The laboratory carries out routine testing for:

Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) Approval
(BS 6920)
SAI Global Approval (AS/NZS 4020)
NSF Approval (NSF/ANSI 61)
UK Secretary of State (DWI) Approval
Testing to the BS 12873 series of standards

The laboratory can carry out a wide range of tests in both hot and cold water to assist manufacturers in product development including:

Odour and Flavour assessment
Growth of biofilm testing
Extraction of metals testing
Total organic carbon leaching
Extraction of substances of concern to human health (Cytotoxicity) testing
Identification of unknown or unexpected trace substances leaching from materials

The laboratory includes an expert analysis group with over 30 years of experience in the identification and quantification of substances leaching from water contact materials.

WRc-NSF can carry out testing on a wide range of materials including factory made and site applied materials.
