North American TestingWRc-NSF has developed close links with a number of North American Certification Organisations. WRc-NSF can carry out both mechanical and material tests to a variety of American and Canadian Standards. Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a not for profit organisation providing certification of water distribution equipment. Products are tested for their fitness for purpose and their effects on water quality. Approved products are permitted to be designated with the NSF Mark. NSF also writes consensus standards for a variety of products which may effect public health. (The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officers), based in Ontario, California, publishes the Uniform Plumbing Code. It also runs a product certification program, through IAPMO Research and Testing, based on testing to North American Standards. Testing covers mechanical properties. The American Society of Safety Engineers participates in the development and maintenance of key privately-developed safety standards. All such standards activities are done within the framework established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the development of consensus standards. International has pioneered the development of codes, standards and conformity assessment programs. ASME maintains and distributes 600 codes and standards used around the world for the design, manufacturing and installation of mechanical devices. |
