Ian Broad joined WRc in 1992 as a mechanical test inspector in the Water Supply Bylaws testing department at Oakdale. Prior to joining the company, Ian successfully completed a 5 year apprenticeship in Plumbing and gained valuable practical skills in the installation and design of hot, cold, central heating and drainage systems.

He has worked and gained knowledge in many of the mechanical testing sections within the company including:

   Water Regulations testing;

   testing of unvented hot water storage cylinders to the requirements of Building Regulations G3;

   testing Thermostatic Mixing Valves to the requirements of NHS, British, European, Australian and American standards;

   testing of large diameter plastic pipes to the requirements of Water Industry Specifications (WIS) and Transco specifications;

   the testing of sanitary ware to the requirements of  British, European, Australian and American standards.

Ian has also represented the water industry on a number of British Standards Committees related to product testing.
