Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS)The Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) is the UK Water Industry's approval scheme. Products approved by the scheme have been shown to comply with the requirements of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and amendments. WRc-NSF is the only laboratory in the UK that carries out Water Regulations Testing for material and mechanical requirements. The Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) The Scheme's main aims are to avoid:
waste,
misuse,
undue consumption,
erroneous measurement, or
contamination of water supplied by a water company.
Approval can be sought for materials or for products/devices. Non-metallic materials are approved by the scheme if they can show compliance with BS6920:2000 "Suitability of non-metallic products for use in contact with water intended for human consumption with regards to their effect on the quality of the water". WRc-NSF is a WRAS approved and UKAS accredited laboratory to carry out these tests. More information. The Mechanical properties of products are tested to a variety of European and British standards and to Regulator's Specifications depending on the product type. The WRc-NSF Evaluation and Testing Centre in Wales is the largest testing laboratory in the UK for plumbing products for WRAS approval. More Information.
